NYC Book Launch: Celebrating The Myth of Normal by Dr. Gabor Maté

September 15th, 2022

The Tulipán Foundation proudly hosted the New York City book launch of The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness, & Healing in a Toxic Culture, written by the esteemed, Hungarian-born physician and addiction expert Dr. Gabor Maté. This hybrid event drew an engaged crowd of almost 1,000 in-person and virtual attendees, all eager to delve into the book's profound insights on health, trauma, and the complexities of modern life.

As the event unfolded, Dr. Maté showcased his signature blend of clinical experience, research, and storytelling, captivating attendees with moving accounts of individuals navigating illness and recovery. Through these powerful narratives, the conversation offered a fresh framework for understanding health—one rooted in self-awareness, authentic connection, and healing from the pressures of contemporary life.

This launch embodied the Tulipán Foundation’s commitment to fostering meaningful conversations and promoting knowledge exchange through innovative educational programs. To that end, attendees were encouraged to reflect on their own well-being and explore new ways to engage with themselves and their communities.

This special evening also marked a significant milestone for the Tulipán Foundation, as it was the first U.S. event for Dr. Maté’s latest book. It set the stage for future dialogues on essential topics related to mental well-being, trauma, and personal growth.

As we reflect on this successful gathering, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended, both in person and from home, for contributing to such a meaningful and impactful experience. We look forward to continuing to bring thought-provoking programs like this to our community.
